IT Support Technician – Irlam, Manchester

The Role

As our IT Support Technician, you will ensure that the Freedom Fibre team receives a quality, efficient and customer focused IT service. You will work closely with the Enterprise IT Manager to implement and provide an efficient IT service desk, ensuring we deliver a quality service to our end users. You will be the first point of contact for the IT service desk and the first escalation point to our internal colleagues for any IT support related issues.

Responsibilities include

  • Assist with the development of our SLAs and our IT service desk, ensuring all support incidents are resolved in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Work with the HR team to ensure new starters are provided with all the hardware and applications required to ensure a positive onboarding experience.

  • Manage the employee leaver process, ensuring we remain secure, current and up to date.

  • Provide insight to the Enterprise IT Manager and suggest improvements that can be made to the IT service and processes.

  • Perform administration of the corporate Active Directory, Office 365, InTune, Anti-Virus, Email and Cyber security solutions.

  • Manage, service and support all IT assets such as laptops, tablets, mobiles, video conferencing equipment etc.

  • Monitor availability, security and performance of our core solutions and servers.

  • Perform troubleshooting of complex technical issues

  • Document knowledge and processes onto the IT resource page.

  • Perform disaster recovery testing.

  • Manage the Company mobile phone account.

Experience & personal attributes

  • Relevant university degree (desirable).

  • Experience of working on a busy IT helpdesk or 2nd line function.

  • Experience of working with Azure Active Directory, Endpoint protection/Intune.

  • Experience of using key Office 365 apps like Teams/Sharepoint/Forms and Power Automate.

  • Experience of using AWS and hosted Linux server.

  • Good understanding of Microsoft operating systems and key applications such as Windows 10 and Windows Server.

  • Ability to work in a team.

  • Problem solving skills.

  • Clear written and verbal communication.

  • Good trouble shooting skills with the ability to acquire the understanding of a problem or situation quickly.

  • A customer focused attitude, positive, can-do, solutions focused mindset.

  • Methodical approach and excellent attention to detail.
