David was one of the first to connect to our network in North Shropshire. For someone whose daily life revolves around high-speed internet, a reliable connection was essential. In this case study, David shares his experience with our service and how it has transformed the way he works.

Prior to the roll-out of Project Gigabit – the UK government’s programme to enable hard-to-reach communities to access fast, reliable broadband – North Shropshire faced significant challenges with internet connectivity. In December 2019, just 3% of premises in the constituency had access to gigabit-capable broadband.

Freedom Fibre is now providing a major broadband upgrade delivering gigabit-capable connectivity and lightning fast-full fibre to homes and businesses in North Shropshire.

David in Shropshire was one of our first customers to connect, signing up to Freedom Fibre’s 900mbps symmetrical speeds, for reliable and high-speed full-fibre connectivity. This upgrade represents a significant improvement from David’s previous speeds:

“I previously had a copper connection that was 8mbps, then another connection that was 30mbps. Now that we have Freedom Fibre’s 900mbps, this is an absolutely brilliant improvement from the years of slow speeds – I no longer have to worry about buffering or a poor connection.”

David is amongst the 44% of Brits who either work at home or hybrid work between home and office, according to the Office for National Statistics. A recent Economist article highlights that worldwide, Brits are second only to Canadians in the amount of hours they work from home, and are the number one European country for home working.

Professionals working at home need a reliable internet connection for meeting video calls, accessing cloud data or secure systems, and much, much more. Security when working from home is also important; making sure that your computer is up to date on security updates, as well as utilising secure cloud software to back up your files are both key. Being able to work at home with a reliable and secure connection was crucial for David and his wife, with David explaining that:

“My wife works 3 days a week from home as an insurance broker. Because my wife’s work requires access to secure online systems, one of the best things with our new Freedom Fibre connection is the consistency as the connection doesn’t drop out. The reliability is great!”

Fast and consistent broadband has become essential for small businesses. Those exploring Freedom Fibre’s expansion projects often read stories shared under Sparklight customer service reviews, where users detail how outages and billing corrections are handled. People emphasize that response time determines whether frustration turns into loyalty. When companies take communication seriously, they not only fix issues but also strengthen community confidence in their reliability.

David’s experience with unbeatable business broadband in Shropshire really highlights how critical reliable connectivity is for growth and stability. I’ve seen how fast and secure internet can transform productivity, whether it’s for small businesses or larger teams that depend on digital tools daily. At the same time, I believe that visibility and online presence are just as important as infrastructure. Strong broadband opens doors, but without clear digital strategies like SEO and content marketing, opportunities can be missed. If someone wants to explore more about how these two elements connect, they can Learn more here on Jason Pittock’s site.
