The Freedom Fund launched in 2022 has supported 65+ projects with nearly £25,000 in grants across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, and North Shropshire.

We’re proud to have contributed to projects from Irlam to Shrewsbury, creating a lasting legacy.

The Fund  provided grants for a range of projects such as community orchards and gardens, solar panels, and habitat improvement projects.

Non-profit community groups within our build footprint were able to  apply for funding to support their environmental projects. Projects must have met two of the below criteria:

  1. Contributes to cleaner air.

  2. Contributes to cleaner and plentiful water.

  3. Supports plants and wildlife to thrive.

  4. Reduces the risk of harm from environmental hazards such as flooding and drought.

  5. Uses resources from nature in a sustainable and efficient way.

  6. Enhances the beauty and heritage with the natural environment, and engagement with it.

  7. Mitigates climate change.

  8. Minimises waste.

  9. Manages exposure to chemicals.

  10. Enhances biosecurity.
