Freedom Fibre now a Certified Carbon Neutral Organisation

Freedom Fibre is proud to announce that they are now a certified carbon-neutral company, having met all requirements for measuring, calculating, and offsetting emissions.

It’s another fantastic achievement for Freedom Fibre who actively seek to minimise their environmental impact throughout the roll-out of their full-fibre network. Alongside other sustainability initiatives – including the recently launched ‘Freedom Fund’ community project – becoming carbon neutral displays Freedom Fibre’s commitment to their corporate social responsibility and to supporting the local areas in which they build.

On the achievement, Freedom Fibre’s Chief Risk Officer, Rick Byers, said;

“For the team at Freedom Fibre, our values are something we live not just something we say, and achieving carbon neutral status allows us to care more and protect the planet. This is a wonderful achievement and becoming carbon neutral is the first step towards us reaching Net Zero. The team here have really pulled together to produce this result, and I am proud to be part of an organisation that lives its values and works together to accomplish such incredible achievements.”

Obtaining carbon neutral status involved the immense task of measuring and calculating Freedom Fibre’s carbon emissions across all facets of their operations. By working with Carbon Neutral Britain, Freedom Fibre has managed to offset 141.98 tonnes of CO2 emissions by contributing to projects such as preventing deforestation in the Amazon Rainforest, reforestation after wildfires in Australia, as well as woodland planting in the UK. In addition, up to 10% of the budget is also spent on sustainable projects in Britain, for Britain. These projects also enable the business to support the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);

  • Responsible consumption and production

  • Decent work and economic growth

  • Climate action

  • Life on land

  • No Poverty

  • Sustainable cities and communities

  • Affordable and clean energy

  • Industry, innovation, and infrastructure

Stay tuned for more news as Freedom Fibre continues their mission to reach Net Zero, alongside creating and delivering a superior full-fibre network.
