Freedom Fibre was delighted to have been part of the ALTnet panel discussion at the INCA conference in Birmingham on the 4th November 2021.

The panel, including Neil McArthur, Founder & CEO of Freedom Fibre, led the talk on competition and regulation in the industry. Other panel speakers included Alex Blowers – Director of Regulatory Affairs at CityFibre, Daren Baythorpe – CEO of ITS, Graeme Oxby – CEO of Community Fibre, Gita Sorensen – Managing Director of GOS Consulting and John Irvine, CEO of WightFibre.

ALTnets collectively represent the same FTTP footprint as BT OpenReach, bringing competition and innovation to the broadband market, with plans to enormously scale over the coming year to bring full fibre to UK homes.

Many thanks to keynote speaker, David Clarkson, competition policy director at OFCOM and Rosalind Singleton for chairing the session.

Scaling networks sounds technical until it affects actual usage at home. I had questions about performance that weren’t answered by basic setup info. The quickest way forward was calling HughesNet customer service number, which gave me a clear explanation without wasting time on guesswork. After that, it was easier to decide what to adjust instead of repeating the same checks.
